Killed Women (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. We are an organisation operating in England with digital offices at 4th Floor, Silverstream House, 45 Fitzroy Street, Fitzrovia, London W1T 6EV, and for the purpose of applicable data protection laws, we are the data controller.
This Privacy Policy sets out the basis on which we will process any personal data or usage information we collect from you, or that you provide to us, in connection with your use of our website at https://www.killedwomen.org/ (our “Website”) and in connection with our work with bereaved families of women killed by men (together, our “Services”).
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully so that you understand your rights in relation to your personal data, and how we will collect, use and process your personal data. This Privacy Policy supplements any other privacy related notices and policies we may provide to you from time to time, and is not intended to override them. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy in general or any part of it, you should not access the Website, use our Services or otherwise provide your information to us.
WHAT PERSONAL DATA DO WE COLLECT?
Information you give to us
You may provide some or all of the following personal data to us through submission to our Website (information may also be shared by you over the phone, zoom or online, via other social media platforms or through meeting with one of our representatives in person):

your contact details (including postal address, telephone number, email address and/or social media identity);
your date of birth;
your gender;
family and spouse/partner details, relationships to other supporters;
information about your experiences as a bereaved relative;
any other personal data you provide to us.
Certain types of personal data are considered as “special category data” under data protection laws, as they are considered to be more sensitive. Examples of this type of sensitive data are information about health, race, religious beliefs, political views, trade union membership, sex life or sexuality or genetic/biometric information. If you contact us via our Website or by email you may choose to provide Killed Women with certain categories of special category data, such as your race, religious beliefs or political views. We ask that you only provide us with this type of information to the extent that there is a clear reason for doing so, or if we specifically ask you to provide it to us.

If another charity or organisation identifies that consenting individual/s may like to be put in touch with us, we might receive data such as names, contact details, information about why they might be interested in Killed Women, or other relevant information.
HOW WILL MY PERSONAL DATA BE USED?
We obtain your consent to process your personal data for the following reasons:
if you opted into receive emails and/or text messages about events, research and other news and information we think will be of interest to you;
to process any “special category” information for the purposes of dealing with your enquiry, training, and quality monitoring or evaluating the Services we provide.
In order to be responsive to you, to provide effective Services to you, and to promote the aims of Killed Women, as a matter of our legitimate interests, we will use your personal data to:
administer the Website and Services, and for internal operations, in order to conduct troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey analysis;
conduct research including surveys to assist us with improving our Services;
maintain the safety and security of our volunteers;

manage our events (both online and in person);
generate reports on our work, services and events;
personalise our Website and our Services to ensure content is presented in the most effective manner for you and your device.
We process your personal data in order to perform our contract with you, such as to process applications for funding.
In addition, we will use some or all of the above information to comply with any applicable legal obligations, to enforce any applicable terms and conditions and/or terms of service, and to protect or defend the services, our rights, the rights of the families we look after, or others.
HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
We do not use or share your personal data with others except as described in this Privacy Policy. In certain circumstances, we will share your information with third parties with your consent, as necessary, or as otherwise required or permitted by law. Specifically, we share your personal data:
When you request us to share certain information with third parties, with consent. We will always ask your consent before sharing your personal data with another charity or with services within the public sector (such as social services or the police). However, if you disclose information that leads us to believe yourself or someone else might be at immediate risk of serious harm, we may have to contact the relevant authorities without obtaining your consent in order to protect your, or another person’s, vital interests. If you feel that either yourself or others are in immediate risk of serious harm please contact 999.
With service providers and vendors. Such third parties include website-hosting vendors and survey providers.
With professional advisors, in our legitimate interests or as required by law. As necessary, we will share your personal data with professional advisors such as auditors, law firms or accounting firms.
For legal and security reasons and to protect our services and business, in our legitimate interests or as required by law. We will share your personal data with regulators, law enforcement agencies, public authorities or any other relevant organisations: (i) in response to a legal obligation; (ii) if we have determined that it is necessary to share your personal data to comply with applicable law or any obligations thereunder, including cooperation with law enforcement, judicial orders and regulatory inquiries; (iii) to protect the interests of, and ensure the safety and security of us, the families we look after, a third party or the public; (iv) to exercise or defend legal claims; and (v) to enforce our terms and conditions, other applicable terms of service or other agreements.
WHERE WE STORE YOUR INFORMATION
The personal data that we collect from you is not stored or transferred outside the UK.
HOW LONG WE STORE YOUR PERSONAL DATA
We will retain:
your personal data for 36 months after you contact us;
your technical usage information for 24 months;
data on your use of our Website and our Services for 12 months.
We will also retain and use your personal data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations and resolve disputes and to enforce our terms and conditions, other applicable terms of service and our policies. If you stop using our Services or if you delete your account with us, we will store your information in an aggregated and anonymised format; we may use this information indefinitely without further notice to you.

SAFEGUARDING
At Killed Women we take safeguarding very seriously and will act upon any concerns of risk towards oneself or anyone else by forwarding such information on to the relevant agencies.
Safeguarding a child (a child or young person means anyone under the age of 18): this means protecting individual children from abuse and maltreatment or preventing harm to children’s health or development.
Safeguarding adults at risk: anyone over the age of 18 who is at risk of harm and needs support to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect.
When using the Killed Women website or any content related to our website (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Zoom, etc….), you are agreeing to these statements and any additional statements on individual pages within the site.
