Kelly Fitzgibbons, Ava and Lexi
Kelly and I were born on the 30th December 1979 in St Richards Hospital Chichester, Kelly was the younger sister by seven minutes.
Kelly and I had an idyllic and very happy childhood growing up in Heather Close, West Ashling. We used to spend hours playing together – making up dances and plays to show the family – we both liked acting and singing our hearts out to music.
We were identical twin sisters and lots of people couldn’t tell us apart when we were younger. We would often pretend we were the other one or swap something so people couldn’t tell us apart.
Kelly always had a great sense of humour, loved to take the mic out of people but could also happily laugh at herself. Kelly was an amazing sister and we were fiercely loyal to each other. We would laugh together for hours, no one made me laugh more than Kelly, sometimes with her, and sometimes at her.
Kelly adored both our mum and dad. She had a really difficult time coming to terms with our mum Janice dying when we were 15 but it made me, Kelly and my dad even closer and Kel would do anything to make my dad happy.
Kelly had longed for children for a number of years so was thrilled when she fell pregnant with Ava and then a few years later little Lexi. Ava was beautiful and angelic, and Lexi was cheeky with her signature Fitzgibbons curly hair. The girls were Kelly’s whole world and she was so proud of those beautiful girls. Kelly loved to take the girls to toddler sense, baking classes, play dates, soft play and walks around the mill pond as well as ‘duvet days’ watching films.
Kel and I always said we couldn’t live without each other so her loss to me and my dad, and those of my beautiful nieces is still incomprehensible but we will ensure Kelly’s memory lives on – anyone that met her couldn’t forget her or not have been touched by her in some way.
